I like the way this video explains Parental Alienation simply by sharing the experience of a child. You may be new to the term “parental alienation”. You may suspect that your child or grandchild may be the “victim” of parental alienation. If so this video is very helpful so I’m sharing it here on this page.
Sometimes Parental Alienation is overly hyped as a very technical psychological pathogen. It is not technical at all. Helping a child from the pain that is caused by it can be however.
Some lawyers or other professionals may tell you it doesn’t exist or that its rare. I suspect that the people who say its rare or does not exist have an agenda behind this statement. It most certainly does exist and the proof is in Genesis 20:12. It’s so frequent God warns us against engaging in it.
Pathogen is defined by Merriam-Webster as, “a specific causative agent (as a bacterium or virus) of disease. Etymologically, “patho-” comes from the Greek word pathos defined as experience, misfortune, emotion, or condition. The suffix “-gen” generally means “produces or causes” and comes from the Greek word genes which literally means “born of” or “produced by”. I have a tendency to be overly critical of psychological jargon when those phrases attempt to make psychology sound medical or scientific.
Alienated parents can be given false hope when they place too much (or any) faith in psychology. Psychology should be categorized as a philosophy or religion because of its subjective nature and foundations in theories that lack enough evidence to be compared with science or medicine. If that’s shocking to you please see the history of psychology that we will be posting in mid 2021. That being said, I’m fine with describing Parental Alienation as a pathogen because it is a condition that is produced or caused by one parent teaching the other parent to violate the 5th Commandment. It’s really that simple.
Exodus 20:12 says,
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
Psychology never cures anything and in fairness it never claims to. If you violate the 5th commandment you are engaged in sin. If “pathogens” are created by your sin or someone else’s sin there is only one cure that takes two steps. Repentance and Forgiveness.
